ahem.
kai, you need to be a little more polite.
things such as romantic shtick that most males hate.
i can just imagine the reaction of a standard teenage male population guild to somehting cheesy and romantic..its called the Kick from Guild functon.
FYI i am Not a warrior type, i play mainly Necro's, so your assumpiton that i am thick headed and think highly of myself is wrong. i dont think im indestructable, nor that i am the server gods gift to the game, like some people do.
if the game was solely about co-operation, why the frell are their henchmen? so that if you, the PLAYER choose to go it alone without human players, who, lets be frank, sometimes are just not up to team playing outside of the PvP side, and even then, a gang of henchies are often better.
i am quite happy in groups, as i am alone.
i have my own guild, but since, like many other players, i hate the look of the capes, i have no hall yet. if they implement the Cape Toggle, like so many players here have been begging them to, this will solve a lot of problems and those of us that dislike capes will be sorted and get halls.
what those of us who would like homes are saying, is that why should a player be forced to join a guild with a hall if they just want a building of their own.
or for small guilds.
lets face it, theres a lot of guilds that are small, around 10 or under members, i know, as mine is under 10.
a house can be an alternative to an expensive hall, specially if the cost is not included in the rise and fall of the economy, perhaps instead as a long, hard quest reward.
i guess im gona make my own assumption here...your a PvP player that plays no PvE, yes?
you are not realy interested in Roleplaying games, but in the player killing aspect of guild wars, the idea of whole guilds running about fighting and killing eachother is waht drew you to this game, i would say.
so, just because you do not like to roleplay, no one else should?
if you dont like houses, simply dont buy them. the same as what others say about guild halls and capes.
i personaly like guild wars. i play solely in the PvE section. THAT is what drew me, not PvP.
i could say, since i dont like PvP, it should be removed from the game and we could all go stand about and /emote a whole lot in the towns and speak in strange languages and so on....
but i wont, because i know other players enjoy PvP and i know i do not have the right to dictate how they have fun or play the game.
i sugest you think that thorough and see if you would like someone telling you how to play the game by their rules and in their way befor youtell others how to play.

i just thought of something maybe to customize your house maybe you could make it show exactly how rich you are for example your housle might look normal but all ghostly and transparent BECAUSE IT MADE OF ECTO! it could just be a way to brag but hey it gives ppl sumthin to do. or made o fthose shadowy remnants i get all the time in groups in fow and i would just like it to be like the gh just a certain spot thats pre picked but you oculd choose where it appears, for example only in areas you cant get to, for example an ecto house floating over the water next to your gh or in the water next to ascalon but at one point youd see huge piles of houses so id probably just leave it at the gh-ish idea

I would like to see homes, but if you've ever done any programming or 3D art at all, you'd know that people who say "It wouldn't be tough to implement" are simply ignorant. It amazes me how artists and programs synch to create the experience we have today in video games. They work HARD. So, while I would like to see it, because it would function well as a massive gold sink and as a novelty item, it would be difficult to implement, not in concept, but in actual work. Don't believe me? Go to www.cgtalk.com and see the kind of work those guys do. Incredible, breathtaking shit. But they've worked for years to get to that point. So before you make an ignorant smart-ass remark that it's "easy" to implement anything in a game, educate yourself.
But, /yes for homes. My vote is cast.
PostScript: LOTS of issues come about with homes. If I want to show mine off to a friend, can I get them into the instance with me? What if I want an inter-guild battle, could I have that outside the house? How big are houses? As big as halls? A few feet of space? There are lots of questions that go with this, it isn't easy...

Whats so special about house?
You have flight travel to anywhere in the game. A house is suppose to be a rest stop for weary travlers that walk or go hunting.
Now if this game was like Morrowind or Everquest, where travel takes forever, a house would be nice. But until then a house would just be a guild hall, with nothing to do in it.

spme pleople have sugested rangers could keep thir pets in their homes..i like that idea, i could have more than one pet..i want my melandru, but a lynx and if there are any, other cats..and maybe a pair of wolves..a normal and a shiverpeaks
yes, pretty homes are hard to make. but what about 5 or so standard homes, all with the same outside, or insides. with only the fixtures and fittings as changeable?
loners have frineds too, but usually, our friends are on different time sheduals to us.
i work 6 days a wee, while my best frieinds usually at home thru the day.
i am often on the game after 6pm, but off it at midnight, where as he is on mid day to8pm ish of weeknights, and can sometimes be seen from 9 at night till the wee hours of the morning. so who says a loner has no one to show thier home to?!
for some, homes would be just another thing to aquire, someithng on the list to get, so they have everything.
others, they would simply be for storeage and planning meatings, theres no reason that you could not take your party into your home. just have a setting that is on or off, and lets you take frineds into house.
me and others like me? we would probably also roleplay in them...sit on the floor befor the fireplace and tell stories...stuff like that..or maybe to check out emotes without looking a daft bugger
if the insides were all the same, it would surely keep the hard work of making *different* homes down to a minimum, since it would be the player who would decorate it

Oh, and use dyes for interior decoration. That will require a lot of dyes, and again a great gold sink as well.

This is 13th century fighting, you dont have TVs to watch you goto the colloseum and watch the fight there.
BTW a house would just be as boring as Guild Hall then you will hear more complaints about GW. And then Anet will have an additional problem. I say fix up the Guild Hall 1st.

Red letters? Hmmmm.....I'm guessing that you were using the search and those red letters are the words you were looking up??? Maybe?
But anyway while this thread is up I might as well comment. A House would be nice to have. Would be great for some extra storage and having multiple pets and other things. Not sure about the collecting furniture stuff. That might be a little difficult for Anet to do. Maybe in some future expansion/chapter.

To be quite honest, I think the addition of houses would add an entirely new and exciting dynamic to GW. For a while now it seems as though the appeal has been that GW is more action-RPG and less MMO. However, since it is still considered an MMORPG, I believe houses would, if implemented, make GW much more MMO, which for some would be a real hook.
Those who want their fraternity guild halls are still more than welcome to purchase them and live with their fellow guild brothers. However, those who want a more peaceful lifestyle in the world of Tyria would be able to spend time saving up for something other than 15k or obsidian armor (which would add much more replay value to PvE). Not only could houses cost potentially exorbitant amounts of gold (thus increasing the urge to farm places like UW and FoW for items to sell), but they could also require certain large amounts of the crafting materials that go highly ignored throughout one's GW experience. Depending on the type of house you want, an NPC architect could provide you with a house that requires large amounts of wood, stone (ie granite slabs), clay bricks (for those who wish to dwell in adobe abodes in perhaps the Crystal desert *pun intended*), or other items that we always get so much of and that goes to such little use.
Of course houses aren't necessary to enjoying GW, but pseudo-professions that spend their time farming for crafting materials and selling them on the market, or buying houses and fixing them up (which could be another implementation: house add-ons for certain prices) with either additions or refurnishings and re-selling them for a higher price, or those who want to rent their house on the D'Alessio Seaboard to some new-comer for a month or two and thus serving as quasi-landlords could potentially boon the economy out of its current weird funk. With a focus diverting from solely items and dyes and what-have-you, perhaps prices would drop as more gold gets circulated instead of stored away.
At any rate, I whole-heartedly give my /signature to this idea.
